Accessibility at Quell
Last updated: 19 July 2026
We believe a focus app should be usable by everyone who wants to reclaim their attention. Quell is built with SwiftUI on Apple's accessibility frameworks, so the features below work consistently across iPhone and iPad.
VoiceOver
Every interactive control is reachable and clearly labeled, and decorative artwork is hidden so it doesn't clutter the reading order. Meaningful state is announced too — a selected plan or theme, a locked premium option, and whether an achievement is unlocked or still locked.
Voice Control
Every button, toggle, and row has a spoken name, so you can navigate and operate Quell hands-free by voice.
Larger Text (Dynamic Type)
Text scales with your system text-size setting, including the larger accessibility sizes. Layouts reflow and wrap rather than truncate, so the content you need stays readable at your preferred size.
Not color alone
Important states never rely on color by itself. Selected days show a filled versus outlined shape, on/off uses a switch position, warnings pair their color with an icon and text, and the block screen uses distinct symbols — so the interface is perceivable regardless of how you see color.
Dark interface
Quell fully supports a dark appearance and follows your system Light/Dark setting, for comfortable use in low light.
Built-in Apple accessibility
Because Quell is a native app, system-wide features such as Bold Text, Reduce Transparency, Zoom, and Spoken Content work with it the way they do across iOS and iPadOS.
What we're still improving
We're always working to do better. On our roadmap: enhanced color-contrast options for the custom premium themes, and honoring the system Reduce Motion setting for animations. We'd rather tell you what's next than overstate what's done.
Tell us what you need
If any part of Quell is hard to use with an assistive technology, please email focuslimits.appblocker@gmail.com. Accessibility feedback goes to the top of our list — we usually reply within 4–5 business days.
